Story

Right. Enough is enough people!!! Please join me in making a stand against the fact that millions of young Ugandans are denied the opportunity to access an education of decent quality. It's time for action - in the form of entertainment! :D Many of you will definately have been badgered by me to come to my previous Haiti or PEAS fundraisers: those who came seemed to really enjoy the whole concept AND we raised a good £500 for fantastic and well deserved causes. So I thought: why not make it a regular thing, a tool for raising awareness about current affairs and issues which are affecting the lives of millions of Africans right now, whilst also celebrating African cultures in all their fabulous diversity. What do you think? Any suggestions on which films should be screened in future then please do let me know. The reason I've selected "Black Gold" as the film to be shown this time round is because it's a very thought provoking documentary thats won lots of awards. I'm planning to hold a film screening every 3 months so the first in September, followed by December, March, June (roughly). Entry is by suggested donation of £10 per screening OR an annual membership fee of £35 which qualifies you for entry into all 4 annual screenings and saving u a fiver to boot! Should be a really good social opportunity to meet and chat to open and like minded people (like many of my course friends!) :D All proceeds go to PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) - a FANTASTIC NGO which was kind enough to entrust me with a research project for a whole month to use for my MA dissertation, so they must be doing something right! ;) Just kidding, they are great in spite of that, u'd have to have been living under a rock for the past year to not hear me bang on about what they do - but just in case: it's providing low cost, sustainable secondary education in Uganda! Check out the website for a more thorough explanation:

As always, popcorn and nibbles will be made freely available and as it's sunday, cocktails are 2 for 1 at the bar! :D Only a 24 seater cinema so book early: 1st come, 1st served....ensure ur place NOW by making a donation. Please state if it's for the single event (£10) or annual membership (£35) or just any donation/contribution (not expecting a ticket in return)

Film starts 6.30pm sharp. Assemble in the bar downstairs 5pm onwards. Hope to see you there! xxx
