Story
Hi,
As you probably know, I'm not a cyclist, I'm a runner! :)
I spend most of my time running, and I haven't been cycling for a long time, but now I'm getting the bike out and starting my training to be able to complete the 90 miles route on Palace to Palace event on 1st October 2017. Windsor Castle is not that far from Buckingham Palace, so I will have to take the longest route.
I have never cycled that sort of distance, and I'm not even sure what to expect, but I'm sure I will get to the finish line somehow. :)
I'm doing this to fund raise for Prince's Trust to support vulnerable, disadvantaged young people in the UK to get their lives on the right track. Prine's Trust help the young people to change their lives, give them education and training to have the skills and confidence to find a job.
I don't have to go far to find an example of why it is important to support disadvantaged young people... I can probably say I had an extremely disadvantaged childhood, and even though I have qualified myself to get free education on university in Hungary, I couldn't have taken the place without the support of House of Hope foundation (ran by Baptist Church in Hungary, sadly closed because of lack of funds) simply because I would have needed to work instead of studying to be able to rent somewhere and have money for food. Government orphanages only look after kids until age 18, and the lives very often go off the track around that age (if not before). When I turned 18, the foundation let me to to stay in the house during my university years, and paid my books, equipment, food, bus pass, etc. You probably can see that it was a massive help for me to be where I am now.
Before I signed up, I was hesitating for a few weeks, as I wasn't really sure if I should or if I could do this, but the cause is really close to my heart. I was really devastated when I learnt that the foundation which helped me had to close, but I'm glad that Prince's Trust is still able to help young people in the UK.
Any donations to Prince`s Trust would be very appreciated.
Thank you so much!
Agnes
