Story

Hello,

hope you are well and thanks for looking at the page. I'm hoping to run this 1/2 marathon, my first, and preferably remain alive. If i do o.k, i will celebrate by enjoying a nice lollypop, for no specific reason other than to appear insane.

i started running a few years ago, mainly to relieve stress, and take away the repetitive and dreary reality in which i inhabit. It also helps me to keep fit.  Yet it reached the stage, when drunk, that i was challenged to actually DO something with my constant running. Being drunk, i accepted the challenge. Since then, I haven't had a single drop of alcohol. [at the date of the event, it will be around 8 months, if i can keep going!] I have been through constant pain of blisters, knee ligament and ankle problems as well as the constant strain on my muscles though I can say 'at least i've pulled this year', i'm referring to my hamstring and a plethora of other muscles. i'd like to say i've grown use to these pains, and have learned not to complain about them constantly, but this would be a lie.

I'm running this 1/2 marathon for charity, because it would be somewhat selfish to do so much running, and never actually put it towards a good cause. I believe in karma, and believe that the more positive things one does, the better the world is because of the knock on effects. No good deed, no matter how small, is ever a wasted one. This is an attempt to make a good impact. A good deed done is something which costs relatively little to myself, but can hopefully have great consequences for others.

thanks for support and best wishes
