Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

In June this year, I will be joining Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara and a 34-strong team of people from the footballing community to take on the tough challenge of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro.

Standing at 19,341 ft above sea level, the climb will be a test of physical and mental endurance but it is one I am looking forward to - not least because of the fantastic cause that we are supporting.

The climb has been organised as part of the Football League's Charity Partnership of the Year with Marie Curie Cancer Care. The overall aim is to raise £500,000 - the equivalent of 25,000 hours of free nursing care in people’s own homes.

I‘ve always wanted to climb Kilimanjaro and to be able to do it for a wonderful cause will make it even more rewarding.

I am also taking on this challenge as cancer is something that can affect anyone at any age. Sufferers and their families have to show strength and determination every single day. The money that we raise by doing this climb will help to support these people who show incredible courage.

Finally, I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and to thank you for your support.
