My Story...
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thanks so much for your donation.
Macmillian is a cause that has become close to my heart since being diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in August 2012.
This was a shock to all as it was discovered during a routine thyroidectomy.
As my Macmillan nurse said it's a cancer that stereotypically occurs in younger people during their 'prime' and knocks them sideways. You deal with it, and then get back to where you left off and this can obviously take a bit of time.
At present I'm in 'limbo' until I've had my full body scan so to fill a bit of time and give me a focus I've chosen to run for Macmillan and support all the great work they do in supporting individuals and loved ones with cancer.
Although this will be my 6th Marathon it does not make it any easier, in fact slightly harder as I know whats coming!
Getting back to being my 'normal', physically and mentally, has also been a challenge in itself but at present I'm just gratfull to be where I am today.
Saying 'Thank you' to my partner, family and friends doesnt do it justice for all the support I've had over the past few months. Therefore I'm going to dediacte the 26.2 miles to all of you and when the going gets tough you'll all be in my thoughts.
Thank you again...
Much love
Aileen
