Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2015 · 30 May 2015 to 31 May 2015 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page!
I have signed up to run the half marathon event in Edinburgh's Marathon Festival because I am hoping that by setting myself this challenge I can raise both money & awareness for Age UK and their vision of ‘Improving later life.' Every penny raised will keep me motivated to keep running!
Age UK works both with and for our older generation, focusing on tackling poverty, reducing isolation & loneliness and address health inequalities. The charity works throughout NI & GB and internationally too, with efforts currently in place to help older people affected by the Nepal earthquakes. Age UK also focuses on research and the research that discovered the cause of Alzheimer's was actually funded by Age UK.
For an idea on how your money can help:
· £10 could fund a ‘home from hospital’ pack for an older person – containing basic food items like bread and milk, a seven day pill dispenser, an emergency contact list and vital information guides.
· £10 - can support a friendly advice line that receives around 70,000 calls each winter.
· £20 - can pay for an older person to have lunch and spend the day at their local Age centre.
· £25 could fund vital adaptions to an older persons’ home - so they can stay independent and safe.
· £50 could fund a home visit from an Age support worker - providing expert advice and support at a frightening and confusing time.
· £100 - can go towards paying for a group of older people to spend the day together on an organised trip.
Your small change can make a big change so thank-you!
