Story

Three months ago, no doubt due to a moment of pure madness, I signed up to run a 10K on behalf of the Charity for Civil Servants (the new name for the Civil Service Benevolent Fund). They are a great charity that helps past and present civil servants and their families through tough times. For some of my more athletically inclined co-workers this might seem like a simple challenge but as I started out with zero running ability it has been a bit of an uphill challenge (I could literally only do two minutes at a time to begin with!). I have, however, now run not only for almost an hour straight but also run (almost non-stop) the five miles from work to my home. This is all despite rain, more rain and the purchase of at least three pairs of socks that took more engineering then my first mobile phone. Given it is now likely I will be able to complete the race I thought it would be a good time to start seeking donations!

The Charity for Civil Servants provides support and advice to current, former and retired civil servants, and dependants. This can range from helping people get back to work following unexpectedly having to take time off, providing Mobility aids like electric scooters and wheelchairs for those that do not qualify for statutory help but could not afford to purchase these on their own, to helping people manage debt and cope with bereavement.

If you would like to know a bit more about the charity and what they do further information is available on their Website:

Donations are much appreciated.

Thank you!
