Dr Akram Khan, Iajaz Satti, Mohammed Sherrif, Noshi Iqbal, Zahid Khan, and Zulfiqar Ali are going to Pakistan, Sindh, in the last 2 weeks of October. James Dickson is helping with organising the trip and helping raise funds through Zahid and James’ school (Woodhouse Grove School)
Dr Khan went with a group of friends and colleagues for a week just before Eid, when he and his colleagues provided immediate emergency food and medical relief.
The current group are going with a view to identify groups of families who do not have any support (such as sole elderly or families with only the elderly for support, or widowed families) and are ready for resettlement. They hope to provide them with help in rebuilding their home, provision of safe water supply, and help with plans for future income regeneration, but of course the final plans will depend on what they find to be the most pressing needs when they are there.
