Hi everyone,

It's official - I am running the 2010 Virgin London Marathon for the Rainforest Foundation!!   This means so much to me.  So I run... obviously doing a marathon at some point would makes sense, but what makes me really excited (and emotional :P) is that I am running my first ever marathon in London - my home!!!

And this is no gentle jog (although I keep hoping that it will feel that way!).  I have been training since I arrived back in London in June, and with a few weeks off to get over illness,  I am now hitting the pavement hard and regularly.  I've been running 5 miles to school three days a week, but I'll be picking that up soon, and adding a weekend longer run.   I am planning to also run some half marathons around England in preparation, and for the added bonus of getting to see more of England!

I don't just plan on waving sponsorship forms in all your faces... although yes, obviously I am asking for donations :D  I want to plan a few events that will raise money.  Pub quiz nights, party at the (TBA), bake sales, auctions....  hopefully you will come out in crowds with all your friends to support (my Canadian buddies I know you will be there in spirit, and don't worry I'll work out a way for you to take part!).

All the money that is raised will be going to the Rainforest Foundation UK.  Their work has the dual impact of supporting the indigenous people of the rainforests to take control of the land and thereby protecting it from deforestation.  For me this charity is extremely important for both humanitarian and environmental reasons, and I am very proud to be running on their behalf.

Thank you all for your support, financially or otherwise!
