My story
We have decided to spend the last few months of the first year of our married lives training for the London marathon! We are running for an organisation called Greenhouse, who Rachel first came across at work.
Greenhouse empowers young people in London’s most disadvantaged communities to realise their potential through high quality, intensive sport and dance programmes delivered by inspirational coaches. By working full time in schools and in the community Greenhouse coaches develop strong relationships, helping to improve young people's health and fitness whilst mentoring them to improve their engagement with their education and community.
Last year, Greenhouse worked with 10,000 young people in London. After 12 months, these young people reported improved self-confidence, self-discipline, motivation and happiness at school. They also performed better at school, performing on average 8% better than their fellow pupils in English and Maths, the equivalent of a GSCE grade higher in each.
Please help motivate us through the winter months and the many runs we will have to do in the lashing rain by donating to this worthwhile cause and we will endeavour to do our very best to complete the run in one piece!
