My story

Dear Friend of Al-Meezan,

Assalamalaykum and thanks for taking the time to visit the Al Meezan Brick Appeal JustGiving page.

Al Meezan is a Scottish charity based in Glasgow and providing Islamic learning to over 600 women, children and young people from Al Meezan House which is currently undergoing the building of a major extension .

Al-Meezan’s work continues to grow and benefit our community. The Centre relies on the commitment and dedication of its volunteer teechers and child care educators to deliver professionally run courses and provide excellent Care Commission approved child care facilities. Many of our volunteers have professional "day" jobs elsewhere and give their time outside their working hours. As the Centre grows, we want to continue and build on this work for future generations of Scottish Muslims.

The construction of the extension has been divided into two phases. The first phase is currently on schedule and consists of erecting the walls and roof. Phase two will see the completion of the project with all eight classrooms furnished a prayer hall, a larger foyer area, a lift and a new lecture theatre.

It is only with your continued generosity and support that the extension is being built. That’s why we want your assistance with completing the extension.

Al Meezan has collected enough funds for Phase One. For Phase Two, however, we must raise £600,000. We have raised £103,000 so far and need a further £497,000 by April 2012.

Please therefore give a Sadaqah donation today.  All donations, no matter how modest, are graciously accepted and appreciated.

Please see below for the different ways in which you can give Sadaqah and help ensure the future Islamic Education of our wider community.

Please donate safe and securely online in less than 20 seconds. You can also donate via text message in around 10 seconds using Justgiving.

 1.      Donate online now at http://www.justgiving.com/Al-meezanbrickappeal using your credit/debit card or PayPal.

Donating online takes less than 20 seconds of your time. If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the box for gift aid so that we will instantly get 25% of your donation gift aided to us by the Inland Revenue – at no extra cost to you. You can also leave a message of support and/or donate in memory of a loved one – it’s up to you.

2.      Give a donation by SMS (text message) to the Appeal. So if you want to give £5 by SMS, simply text: INSH86 £5 to 70070. Please forward the code to all your family and friends and ask them to donate too and leave messages of support if you wish.

Donating via SMS takes around 10 seconds – and you can leave a message of support too. This amount will then be deducted from your mobile phone bill and we receive 100% of your donation. You can also gift aid this amount too – just wait for the reply text and follow the simple instructions. If you are a young person, you may want to seek permission from your parent or guardian first.

Online and SMS donations are logged on the JustGiving page so you and your family and friends can see how much you have helped to raise online. Teachers will be announcing progress of the appeal at weekly classes so that we all know how much has been raised and how much still has to be raised.

3.      Give a regular or one off BACs payment via your internet banking to Al Meezan, A/C No: 06000750   and Sort code 80-07-61.
