I, Alain Bates and 3 of my comrades (Adam, Charlotte and Chris) will be embarking on a sponsored treasure hunt across Europe this summer  to raise money for Sheffield R.A.G.

Sheffield RAG is a very worthy cause, which raises money for local charities in South Yorkshire. This year, they're aiming to raise some dosh for the following charities:

- Barnsley Cancer Relief

These guys provide cash grants to cancer suffererers in Barnsley to help them cope with expenses of the illness, such as travelling to and from hospitals or buying new clothes for someone who has suddenly lost weight

- Sheffield Young Carers Project

This project aims to provide support to young people across Sheffield who have to provide substantial amounts of care for family members due to medical or disability issues. The project aims to offer social and educational opportunities to help reduce the isolation and social problems often suffered by young carers.

- Shield

A charity which offers support to people living with HIV and AIDS, as well as running an education programme involving people living with HIV, or their family members, visiting schools in South Yorkshire to deliver talks on their experiences of the disease.

For our challenge, we will be given a series of cryptic clues, which when solved will lead us to a destination in Europe as part of the treasure hunt. There are numerous teams competing and there will be a race to see who can solve all the clues and reach the finish line in a faraway foreign land first. We're armed with a European inter-rail pass to get us from city to city and our map-reading skills/geographical knowledge to find all of the checkpoints on the treasure trail over the course of 4 days.
