As you may know I had a bit of cardiac re-plumbing, a double coronary artery bypass in September 2010. I was lucky I hadn't had a heart attack.

It was through the support of the good folks at Basingstoke & Alton Cardiac Rehabilitation Charity (www.cardiac-rehab.co.uk/index.php), that I, and other cardiac patients in this part of Hampshire, have been able to get back to a reasonable level of fitness and good health.

I would, in a small way, wish to support the work of the charity so I am seeking sponsorship for running in the Basingstoke Half Marathon on October 2 2011. I can't guarantee to finish it in the 3 hours 15 minutes allowed but I'll give it my best shot.

It will be a real family event as I'll be running (using that term loosely) with my son Gordon, his partner Jenny and my daughter April.

I appreciate money is tight at present but every penny will help.
