Sussex Beacon Half Marathon 2010 · 21 February 2010 ·

The Sussex Beacon is a specialist facility, providing support and care for people facing the challenges of living with HIV. The Beacon is to become the UK’s only dedicated hospice for LGBTQ+ people, uniquely combining inclusive care with expertise in HIV specialist care.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've entered the half-marathon run organized by Sussex Beacon.

For the last fifteen years the Beacon has been providing vital services for people with HIV who stay in our residential unit or use our community services. Until the day comes when a cure is found for HIV or a vaccine can help prevent it occurring, then the Beacon has a job to do.  Their clients needs vary from residential care, to recovery from a hospital stay, terminal care or adaptation to medication. The challenges facing people with HIV are enormous - they help with all of this and so very much more.  The Beacon saves lives, and without their services, many people may have died or will die in the future. The half marathon helps fund this service and over the last eight years has raised nearly £500,000
