My story

On the Sunday 30th October I am returning to my birth place,
Portsmouth. Where I will be entering the Great South Run with the 22,000 other runners. Bupa Great South run is the World's leading 10 Mile
race that has been held every year since 1990. This will be a
special moment for me since I will be running in a major event
where I spent the early years of my life.

The main reason I'm running is to celebrate the life of my
father who died of Cancer several years ago and being in the
Navy spent a good many years down in Portsmouth. I'm also
hoping to raise as much money as I can for the charity
Macmillan Cancer Support.

We have all been touched with Cancer in some way or other in
the past. Be it family, friends or work colleagues, we all know
how it affects everyone involved and how devastating this disease can be.

We also know of Macmillan and the great work they do to help Cancer
sufferers with their support, so it's only fitting with the support they gave my dad I should repay them in some small way.

I realise times are tough these days for cash so I would be grateful if you spare anything you can to help the Macmillan cause.

Regards

Alan
