<p><strong>A few years ago I got it into my head that I was going to walk the island of Lanzarote from north to south. It&rsquo;s approximately 73km from the port at Orzola to the lighthouse in Playa Blanca.</strong></p> <p>You know how things are, we say these things and never get around to doing them. So, to stir myself into action, I&nbsp; decided to use it to hopefully raise a little bit of money for charity and set up this page. Committing to that forced me to plan for it and name a date.</p> <p>The walk was completed of the 4th and 5th February 2011 and this page raised &pound;1305.67 (including gift aid) which has since been distributed to;</p> <p>Ni&ntilde;os Tercer del Mundo - based here on the island and raising money for children in the third world.</p> <p>The Rose Road Centre in Southampton who provided a wide range of services to severely disabled children and their families.</p> <p>Both are VERY worthy causes.</p> <p><a href="http://www.alangandy.com/tag/north-to-south/" target="_blank">Click here</a> to read about the walk!</p> <p><em><strong>Thanks to all who have supported me - and if you happen to stumble on this page and would still like to donate to the two very worthy charities the page remains open for donations!</strong></em></p> <p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>(You'll see from this page that donations will go to Rose Road initially.
