Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
http://www.sandragladwin.co.uk/alangladwin/bresttobrest.htm Is the link to my web page which I am updating with my training and later challenge progress updates.
To save you having to go there here it is in brief:
Start Brest in Brittany France, cycle 2500km to Brest Belarus all that lies between is France, Germany, Belgium, Poland, no support and any route I want.
As a cyclist I usually avoid sponsored events as it feels wrong asking people to donate for something I would do anyway. This event is slightly different however, being 60 marathons, or Lands End to John O Groats and back.
Being from Brest to Brest, Breast Cancer seams the obvious choice. Because of other comitments I will not be officially entering the event, as I intend to set off about 2 weeks before the official start. I will stand the cost of all my travel expenses and logistics. I am tweaking the goal post slightly, my final destination will be Terespol border control with Belarus, 2km from Brest, its £90 minimum and paperwork to cross the border.
If any one feels my madness is sufficient to donate to Breast Cancer Research so much the better. As an unofficial entrant I have no requirement to raise funds but any that are I would like to credit to Wackey Chases for their Inspiration on crossing Europe for a good cause.
It was billed as a race, I hope to cycle camp as a solo rider in 10 days (160 miles a day), information I recieved from the organisers said that most feedback thinks the event should be of a length completable in 2 weeks. So who knows an Uxbridge Loiterer (CTC section) could be the fastest across Europe.
