Macmillan Cancer Support Etape Caledonia 2010 · 16 May 2010 ·

Imagine being told your toddler you thought was healthy, but perhaps slow to progress, in fact had a rare and devastating disability that would leave them needing lifelong 24/7 care. Rett syndrome changes lives irrevocably. With your support Rett UK is there from the beginning. #ToKnowHerIsToLoveHer

Story

I am cycling the in the Etape Caledonia on 16th May 2010.

This is an 81 mile cycle challenge taking place on traffic-free roads in the stunning scenery of Highland Perthshire.

Whilst grinding out the miles, I would like to take the opportunity to raise a few quid for the RETT Syndrome Association.

This is a charity close to my heart since my niece’s little girl, Shona, was diagnosed with the condition 18 months ago.

Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder affecting mainly females early on in life. Sufferers of Rett Syndrome have profound and multiple physical and learning disabilities and are totally reliant on others for support throughout their lives.

I would be really grateful for all donations which will allow the RETT Syndrome Association continue their support of Rett sufferers & research into a cure for the condition.

Many thanks for your contribution!

Alan
