Crumball Rally 'MISSION IMPOSSIBLE' · 19 July 2013

Imagine waking up and not recognising your own child, not remembering your family or friends, and having to re-learn everything in life. Headway Essex cares for people who have acquired a brain injury through sporting or work accidents, road traffic accidents, assault, illness, or disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Great news, we completed the Rally without any major problems! We drive through 6 countries covering some 1600 miles in three days, very tiring. We spent a day in Prague to recover and see the sights, the best day was the Saturday, it started with us being 'The Masters of Disguise' dressed as Batman & The Joker, taking a ski lift and tobogganing over 3k back down!!

I would like to those friends who donated to our chosen charity, thank you.

Cheers

Alan

I had a dear friend who found out that he had a brain tumor, I put his family in touch with Headway Essex who advised and helped him and his family come to terms with the illness. There was also one of my employees who's son was attacked and ended up with a brain injury, again Headway gave help to him and his family.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 19-21st July 2013

What is Mission Impossible 2013?

A driving tour, driving on some of Europe's finest roads (in some of Europe's worst cars!) for 3 days for the rally itself. Allowing for a days travel to the start, and another day to get home! We estimate the total milage to be around 2200 miles in 5 days, some going!

The rally will start near Reims, France, around 8.30am on Friday morning 19th July 2013 and end in Prague on Sunday evening 21st July. Driving from Reims, France - Chur, Switzerland on day 1. Day 2, Chur, taking a Toboggan ride on the famous Pradaschier Run before going on to Fussen, Germany. Day 3, Fussen - Prague, Czech Republic for the final party and awards ceremony.

Do we get support if we break down, this is what the organisers say " Sorry but no! Surely you really wouldn’t appreciate it if we deprived you of the uncertainty each day on whether your chosen vehicle will start in the morning let alone break down miles from anywhere, on a mountain pass in a strange country!"

Aside from the ever present challenge of hoping our chosen chariot doesn’t "self-destruct in the next 5 seconds", we will have a couple of tasks to perform en route, but we might just want to "tom cruise" through the countryside without taking part in that days competition.

The challenge of coaxing our vehicle to the finish point should be reward enough but at the final night's presentation ceremony,  everyone is really a winner and each participant will also be provided with an appropriately cheap medal memento on finishing!
