I have now the steps I took 37 years' ago (when I rowed in an Eight) by walking the c.107 miles from Oxford to London in just 6 days - no mean feat for men of a certain age!! The 1973 picture above shows the boat when it arrived on a Friday afternoon at Westminster all those years' ago having raised funds for a national charity..
This time I startedin Oxford at lunchtime on 26th September 2010 and I ending at the London Eye at 11.15 on 2nd October and I want to raise as much money as possible for two local, Hampshire based charities - Treloars and Winchester Mencap. These charities focus on giving focussed support to youths and adults with physical and/or learning difficulties so that they have improved opportunities in their lives whilst also providing help for their carers.You can find out more about Winchester Mencap at www.winchestermencap.hampshire.org.uk and for Treloars at www.treloar.org.uk
In order to simplify the process of sponsoring me, all monies raised will, in the first instance, be donated to Treloars who will pass 50% of this on to Winchester Mencap.
