Story

A quick update for all of our fantastic supporters.

On 25th May 2011 at 06:05am I reached the top of the world along with 7 other members of my team and 7 fantastic Sherpas. Some of you will be aware that I lost my sight just below the summit and I can confirm that both eyes are fine now and I don't expect any problems long-term. All other members of the team successfully summitted on 16th or 25th May and I am immensely proud of them all.

On behalf of Maggies Glasgow and myself, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us both financially and morally over the last few years in planning and executing this challenge.

I have added a couple of extra photo's for you to hopefully enjoy.

Thanks once again - Alan......

2011 brings the opportunity of a lifetime for me, nearly 5 years in the planning and many more in the mind - I finally get an attempt to summit Mt Everest. I will be joined by 2 friends, Geoff and Adam and supported by Jagged Globe. We will be leaving the UK on 26th March and anticipating a summit attempt towards the last week of May or first week of June.

Most importantly, just as in 2006 when we climbed the North Col of Everest, I will be raising funds for a great cause that is very close to my heart. Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres are a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer.

Under one roof anyone can access help with information, benefits advice, psychological support both individually and in groups, courses and stress reducing strategies. You don’t have to make an appointment, or be referred and everything on offer is free of charge.

It is there for anybody who feels the need for help, which includes those who love and look after someone with cancer, who often feel as frightened and vulnerable as those who actually have the disease.

All the money required to develop the programme of support and build and run the centres is supplied by donations such as this.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving.
