What Am I Doing?
Sleeping Rough for one night for those who sleep rough every night in Peterborough on Friday 12th November.
Participating in a mass fundraising event - there are 150 others sleeping rough outside my Sainsbury's store in Bretton on the night.
Why am I doing it?
We are hoping to raise both money and awareness for Peterborough Soup Kitchen and to help people understand what a great job they do supporting the homeless and disadvantaged in the city. With the money raised we are aiming to buy a brand new van for the soup kitchen to operate out of and continue in their great work.
What's the Soup Kitchen got to do with Sainsbury's?
We have been supporting Peterborough Soup Kitchen for last 18 months as our chosen charity of the year at Sainsbury's Bretton.
The Soup Kithcen are also our chosen food donation charity, this means that any salvagable food is donated daily and used to help feed the homeless, a great way to make good use of our left over food - every day we supply left over bread and cakes from our bakery to help make a difference to the lives of the homeless and reduce the amount we throw away.
What are we most proud of?
During the last 18 months we have rasied around £10000 in cash donations and around £8000 of food donations (That's 54 full trolleys of food!!) from our generous customers and colleagues - if you are one of those people, thankyou for your help.
So come on, dig deep and help us with this great cause, any donation large or small is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Alex
