Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page  for The Alzheimer's Society.

Anyone that knows me will remember that I cycled from London to Paris in 2009 for the Parkinson's Disease Society, now called Parkinsons UKand my wife raised more than £1200 for The Alzheimer's Society last year.

As it is my 40th next year, I wanted to take on a real challenge so my wife has booked me on the Etape Du Tour, an individual stage of the Tour De Fance. In 2011 the stage is 109km from Modane (near the Italian Border) to the famous Alpe D'Huez mountain. It also includes the massive mountains of the Col Du Telegraphe and the Col Du Galibier ( the profile can be seen in my photos in the top right hand corner).

The Stats are :

Alpe D'Huez => Height =1850m  Length 13.2 Km @ 8.1% Ave Gradient

Telegraphe => Height = 1566m =  Length 11.8 Km @ 7.3% Ave Gradient

Galibier => Height = 2556m = Length 18.1 km @ 6.9 Ave Gradient

It will be a truly massive challenge in the July heat.

My reason for chosing the Alzheimers Society is that it is the preferred charity of my wife Amanda, whose father John Simpson has been recently diagnosed with Vascular Dementia.

Although Amanda will not be doing the ride with me, she is footing the cost of the trip and will be doing a great deal of the training rides with me, so she is hugely involved.

Many of you will have first hand experience of this condition and I would be extremely grateful if you would be kind enough to sponsor me.

I would like to thank the following people for sponsoring me offline ...... Stuart Renwick, James Rushton, Ben Unsworth, John Daniel, Mike Walker, Anne Kauczok, Darren and AnnMarie Hatcher, Steve Gibbs, Tim Lee-Harper, Craig Spooner, Laurence Ross, Norman Holland, Ron French, Connor MacGowan, Sarah Watson,  Maureen + Simon, Mrs Betty Davis, Mike and Frances Davis, Alan Diver, Steve Ralph,  Karl Chiverton, Joan Parker, Remi Daly, Toye Oyesikel, Chris Grimsahw, Pat and Pat Staley, Adam Burmen, HMRC Swear Jar,  Miranda Pitt, Daniel Constance, Andree Bentley, Ian Goode, Thomas Goode, Charlotte Goode, Susan Simpson, Yvonne Simpson, Robin Dixon, Louise Jackson, Leslie Guilding, Melanie Bishop, Jo Watson, Brian Skelley, Phil Hopkins, Sam Withall, Kim Slater, David Nicholls
