Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, for Parkinson's UK.

Anyone that knows me will remember that I cycled from London to Paris in 2009 for the Parkinson's Disease Society, now called Parkinsons UK.

As it is my 40th next year, I wanted to take on a real challenge so my wife has booked me on the Etape Du Tour, an individual stage of the Tour De Fance. In 2011 the stage is 109km from Modane (near the Italian Border) to the famous Alpe D'Huez mountain. It also includes the massive mountains of the Col Du Telegraphe and the Col Du Galibier ( the profile can be seen in my photos in the top right hand corner).

The Stats are :

Alpe D'Huez => Height =1850m Length 13.2 Km @ 8.1% Ave Gradient

Telegraphe => Height = 1566m = Length 11.8 Km @ 7.3% Ave Gradient

Galibier => Height = 2556m = Length 18.1 km @ 6.9 Ave Gradient

It will be a truly massive challenge in the July heat.

My reason for chosing the Parkinson's UK is in memory of my Dad's eldest brother Charles Henry Hawkes who died on 1st April 2004 aged 74. He had battled with the condition for 20 years before it finally got the better of him.

Many of you will have first hand experience of this condition and I would be extremely grateful if you would be kind enough to sponsor me.

I would like to give thanks to the following people who have sponsored me offline ......Stuart Renwick, Ben Unsworth, Richard Adams, Mike Mulligan, John Daniel, Mike Walker, Anne Kauczok, laurence Ross, Luke Miller, Rob Gowers, Connor MacGowan, Sarah Watson, Sarah Carter, Richard Pilbury, Mike Davis, Alan Diver, Steve Ralph, Simon Banks,  Karl Chiverton, Brett Smith, Parkhead Academicals FC, Chris Grimshaw, Pat and Pat Staley, Brian Wilmott, Chris Mogg, Jenny Goode, Steve Simms, Melanie Bishop, Leslie Guilding, Jo Watson, Bel and Cali Drury-Codjia, David Phillips, Rachel Allwood, Kim Smeadley, Lisa Fozzard, Bob Thomas, Paul Watson, Pete, Jane and Daisy Billings, Nigel Rodgers, Amanda's Car Boot Sale, David Cutting, Martin Stockdale
