We raise money for research, care & support to help cancer patients get the best care.

Story

The odds of being diagnosed with cancer at some point in a person's life currently lies at 1 in 3. Whilst the survival rates of cancer have improved, it is clear there is always room for additional awareness and help for those both living with, and having survived cancer, whilst remembering those who have sadly lost their battle

Myself and Michaella have had the misfortune of experiencing both  scenario's in our life, therefore have decided it's time to swap the weekly double vodka cranberries, for the odd Zumba lesson in preparation for a nice leisurely 10K run around Manchester City Centre.

On Sunday 20th May 2018, we will be running (crawling by the end) the Great Manchester Run for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity - a charity very close to our hearts, whose dedicated work helps families and loved ones such as our own through trying times, whilst providing vital treatment helping those effected prolong their life.

The blood, excessive sweat and tears (of joy at actually finishing it) will be in memory of grandparents we have both lost, however more recently to remember the passing away of Michaella's grandad Robert Murphy, and to support the charity that provided the highest level of care.

Ten years ago the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity trialled a drug on Robert to stop the cancer spreading further to his lungs, lymph-nodes and neck. This drug not only stopped the cancer from spreading further but removed the cancer from his body completely. However last year when the cancer came back, it spread to his brain causing him to sadly lose his battle on 10/04/18. The amazing research conducted over the last ten years of his life will go on to save someone's life in the future.

We would really appreciate any donation big or small in helping us support such an amazing charity doing so much for families like ours - thank you!
