BUPA Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

What on earth are a 51 year old and a 48 year old who have never really run doing taking part in Britains biggest participation race??

We have been inspired to enter in support of a close relative who has battled hard for a number of years with a serious eating disorder.

beat is the leading UK charity for people with eating disorders and their families. beat is the working name of the Eating Disorders Association.

Eating disorders are a serious mental illness affecting 1.1 million people in the UK. beat provides helplines for adults and young people, online support and a UK-wide network of self-help groups to help people beat their eating disorder.

beat's vision is simple: Eating Disorders will be Beaten.

A couple of glasses of wine with some friends and we had signed up. We have been training since the 1st April ( April Fools day!!!)

3/4 mile the first run - that was hard, and built up from there.  The race is on the 20th September, and our ambition is to finish the same day!!!!!

We are very greatful for your generous support for this very worthwhile cause

Many thanks

Alex & Rachel
