Last year I raised over £2000 while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for the charity Masomo, which works to give an education to orphans in Mwanza, Tanzania. The money that many of you donated went to buying a few cows for the school so the kids can have fresh milk every day and paying for teacher salaries.
I have decided to spend 2009/10 focussing on a project closer to home and will be raising money for Jewish Care by running (and hopefully completing!) the London Marathon in April. So as I wear in my trainers and become familiar with Regent Park's running paths, I hope you will dig into your pockets and support the amazing work that Jewish Care does to help so many different groups of people around the UK. See www.jewishcare.org for more info.
On a personal level, having lost much of my own family during the holocaust, I am encouraged to see that Jewish Care looks after many holocaust survivors. Over the coming months I will be visiting some of the centres myself and very much look forward to personally seeing the good work that they are doing to help the local community.
So please check out the website and sponsor me - even if its only 50p - every penny helps : )
Many thanks in advance for your support.
Alex
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Jewish Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
