Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Greater Manchester Marathon on Sunday 28th April to challenge myself and also to raise money for Burnaid, a charity who helped to save my cousin Vicky's son Joe's life when he was badly burned as a baby, and gave him and his family a huge amount of support in the years afterwards.
Burnaid is a small local charity that supports the Burn Centres at Birmingham Children's Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Their aim is to offer support to both adults and children who have sustained thermal injuries, and this support also extends to their families.
Burnaid was established in 1988 by a group of staff, and is still run by a group of volunteers who are dedicated to providing care and support for burn survivors.
The only previous long(ish) run I have done was a 10km Sydney Harbour Bridge run when I was living in Australia, some pictures of which are on this page. 26.2 Miles is going to be tough but I have been in training since January, and with about 6 weeks to go before the marathon I am hopeful I can last the whole distance without crawling over the finish line! Any money you can donate would be brilliant, as I have said Burnaid is a fantastic charity, and sometimes does not get the publicity of other charities, worthy causes as they may be. Please donate! Thank you
