at 04.25 on 1st July I strode out to tackle The Welsh 3,000s. Joined by Ant Griffith, Tim Woodhead and late entrant Rupert "Chalfont" Corfield, we were ably assisted by Gwyn as our support team. We arrived at the top of Crib Goch at 05.40 to start our timed challenge, arriving at Foel Fras 13 hours 40 minutes later at 19.20
The Challenge
To top all of Snowdonia's mountains over 3,000 feet, in under 24 hours. To put it in perspective, that is approximately 45km with a combined ascent of 4,500m, over broken ground.
The Charity
I was so impressed by an old friend, Bert Portal, attempting to raise £300,000 for Facing the World by rowing the Atlantic that I wanted to help him succeed.
Facing the World is a UK-based charity that offers surgery to children with facial disfigurements. All the children are from countries where such pioneering techniques are unavailable. The charity funds transport for families from their homeland to London, all necessary surgery and nursing care at the Cromwell Hospital, accommodation, education and support for families away from home. The team then works on rebuilding courage, confidence and self-esteem. Helping up to six children at any one time in the UK, they are now working on several training centres closer to the families' homes as well as developing their relationship with hospitals in London and pharmaceutical agencies.
All the money I raise will go to Facing the World. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Thank you for visiting my page. I hope you will be able to support me.
