Facing The World is helping to change the future for Vietnamese children by facilitating operations and supporting surgeons through global training programs, giving children with facial disfigurement a chance to thrive.

Joined by&nbsp;<strong>Ant Griffith, Tim Woodhead</strong> and late entrant <strong>Rupert "Chalfont" Corfield</strong>, we were ably assisted by Gwyn as our support team<span style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">. We arrived at the top of Crib Goch at 05.40 to start our timed challenge, arriving at Foel Fras <strong>13 hours 40 minutes</strong> later at 19.20</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><strong><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">The Challenge</span></strong><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">To top all of Snowdonia's mountains over 3,000 feet, in under 24 hours. To put it in perspective, that is approximately 45km with a combined ascent of 4,500m, over broken ground.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><strong><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">The Charity</span></strong><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">I was so impressed by an old friend, <strong>Bert Portal</strong>, attempting to raise &pound;300,000 for <strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Facing the World</strong> by rowing the Atlantic that I wanted to help him succeed.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">Facing the World </span></strong><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">is&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Verdana; color: #532255; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;" lang="EN-US">a UK-based charity that offers surgery to children with facial disfigurements. All the children are from countries where such pioneering techniques are unavailable.</span><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US"> </span><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Verdana; color: #532255; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;" lang="EN-US">The charity funds transport for families from their homeland to London, all necessary surgery and nursing care at the Cromwell Hospital, accommodation, education and support for families away from home. The team then works on rebuilding courage, confidence and self-esteem.</span><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US"> </span><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Verdana; color: #532255; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;" lang="EN-US">Helping up to six children at any one time in the UK, they are now working on several training centres closer to the families' homes as well as developing their relationship with hospitals in London and pharmaceutical agencies.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">All the money I raise will go to <strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Facing the World</strong>.<strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"> </strong>Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">Thank you for visiting my page.
