Bupa Great North Run 2011 · 18 September 2011 ·

Lewy body dementia is the second most common cause of age-related dementia, affecting around 130,000 people in the UK. We raise awareness of the disease, provide information to patients and carers, and fund research so that in future it can be more easily diagnosed and treated.

These figures represent only patients; caregiver&rsquo;s double or treble the number of people whose lives are directly affected by dementia and relations and friends increase these numbers further.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 26.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 16.0pt; font-family: Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; color: black; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US">DLB shares mental symptoms, such as confusion and loss of memory, with Alzheimer's disease (but it is not the same) and motor symptoms, such as gait and slow movement, with Parkinson's disease.
