Alexa's run ... Robin Hood 1/2 Marathon, 13th September 2009.
Welcome to my page! At this point I hope you are about to donate generously - So please dig deep and support me and my charity! On Sunday 13th September 2009 I will be running the Nottingham Robin Hood 1/2 Marathon in aid of Derbyshire Intensive Care Unit. Those of you who know me will appreciate the challange that this presents, as well as the truama of wearing Lycra four months after having my second child Evie!
There are two reasons for me attempting this run. Firstly, Ste, Alfie, Evie and my family who have inspired me to complete this challenge and who have been supportive from the start- babysitting while I have been training. Stephen also completed the Edinburgh Marathon in 2008- in an amazing time whilst raising money for the Intensive Care Unit; to which we owe so much. This explains the second reason for putting my body through such physical torture! In August 2007 I needed emergency surgery and a 6 unit blood transfusion after suffering with 24 hours of internal bleeding. The life saving care that I received from the staff in the Unit was outstanding and I will never be able to repay the gratitude I feel. So I hope this run will provide that closure, whilst raising much needed money to help others, who like me, needed urgent care.
So far, my training has been going well- I started with small runs and am currently attempting longer distances. I completed the Tara Kinder 10K in July in just over an hour and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the race. Since this I have started upping my milage and hope to have run at least 11 miles before the big day!!!!
Please, please, please give me some more inspiration to keep running and support me and my charity. 13th September is creeping closer and I really want to make family and friends proud! Thank you for looking at my page!
