My story

 

Update - 18/11

Thanks to all who have already come forward and given so generously I really didn’t expect such great reaction. Training has started in earnest and I am loving the London autumn weather, anybody who wants to join me for a run or some interval training give me a shout.

 I have added a few more pictures of the children at Chailey; some recent and some from back in the day, check them out. More to come soon.

Hi All,

I will be running the London marathon next April 25th. Believe it or not it is something I always wanted to do. It is likely to be a once in a life time occurrence so please do come down to the course to cheer or hurl abuse/paving stones at me, it will all help I assure you.

To put the blisters, I am sure to accumulate to good use, I will be raising money for Chailey Heritage School. It is a school for young people (aged 2 to 19) with physical disabilities. The education and support the school provides to its pupils and their families, makes it possible for them to enjoy a quality of life much greater than would otherwise have been possible. Please check out their website and see what they do (www.chs.org.uk).  

I also have a very personal connection to Chailey, it was founded by my great grand mother, Dame Grace Kimmins, back in 1903. Since then family members have been amongst the many people involved to make the school the amazing place it is today. This is just my little grain of sand.

Compared with the challenges faced by the pupils, families and the Chailey staff running a marathon is not much, but please do give generously to a great cause.
