Restless Development exists to ensure that young people in the UK and around the world have the opportunities and support needed to thrive and lead positive change.

Story

Hi I'm Alex,

I'm planning on living on £1 a day for a week starting on the the 3rd of April to raise funds for the Restless Development Charity.

There's not much you can do with £1. But surviving on this small amount each day is the reality for the 1.4 billion people currently living below the Extreme Poverty Line. The World Bank defines extreme poverty as living on the equivalent of US$1.25 a day. That's roughly the equivalent of £1 in the UK.

Over 50% of the world's population are young people. Young people make up 70% of the population in developing countries. The majority of these young people live below the Poverty Line of £1 a day. These are the people Restless Development specialises in protecting.

They face some of the most serious and persistent problems in the world including HIV/AIDS, no access to education and high unemployment. Poverty is one of the biggest underlying challenges young people face. We want people in the UK to better understand the restrictions this causes.

That is why I am fundraising to try and raise £1000, this will contribute to teaching young people in Nepal where I am travelling for 3 months in April.

I am going to keep a video blog of my week and hopefully I'll be able to upload this, either here to 'Just Giving' or to an event on Facebook. This will hopefully allow you to follow me on my challenge.

I hope that you agree with me that this is a fantastic cause and will help me raise some money towards it.
