Part of the international Samaritans movement , Swindon Samaritans is an independent charity run by volunteers providing emotional support to the people of Swindon and surrounding area.The team of about 100 listening volunteers offers emotional support to callers by telephone , in person or by email, 24 hours a day , 365 days a year.

Story

On 27 September, I am will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. 

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.  The aim is to complete the walk in under 12 hours.

The walk covers a distance of 37.5 km (23.3 miles) to 42 km (26.1 miles) (depending on the route) with nearly 1,600 m (5,249 ft) of ascent and descent. 

In support of the work my sister does I am helping to raise money for Swindon and District Samaritans I am aiming to raise funds to be able to put towards the  day to day running costs of the amazing Centre that resides in Curtis Street, Swindon. A service that costs £60,000.00 a year and is fully funded by fundraising and donations.

Last year, the Swindon Branch had over 26,000 contacts. Samaritans are available 24 hours a day to provide emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of emotional

Samaritans saves lives, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
