Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I started working for Herts Mind Network 5 years ago, choosing to change careers so I could use my lived experience of mental ill health to provide support to others. I had been diagnosed with anorexia aged 14 and spending the next 10 years as a psychiatric patient.
I am incredibly proud of my working journey within the charity, moving from being a peer support worker to eventually being Head of Peer Support, Training and Therapies. Unfortunately, various factors, including the pandemic triggered a relapse and I made the decision to leave the organisation at the end of last year to work on my own recovery.
Part of my 'work' has been walking and so the idea of the trek took shape.
I can't tell you how important the work that Herts Mind Network do. They support people in an empathetic, non-judgemental way who are experiencing mild, moderate to severe mental ill health. Enabling and empowering people towards personal recovery.
They also support people with dementia, another cause close to my heart as my dad has been living with dementia for many years.
I would like to end with a message of hope, because that is perhaps the most important thing that every single person who works and volunteers at Herts Mind Network brings to the people they support. I am now back on my recovery journey and preparing to work back in mental health very soon. With you donation you can help bring that hope of recovery to others.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. I have completely self-funded the trip so everything raised will go to Herts Mind Network.
