Story

Hi my names Alex, My Partner Is Ashley. On 08/01/2012 Archie-Jae Read was born and this is our Story...

I found out i was pregnant in May 2011, And i was over the moon, Went for a 12weeks scan and everything was great,Then went for my 20week scan, The lady that was doing it was explaining everything as she went and even told us the sex (BOY), we was in there 30minutes before she said that she couldn't see the babys face, and that i needed to go for a walk to change the position of the baby, well i didnt think nothing of it.... Went back in all happy as larry as we got another chance to see our babyboy. she then went over his face and said " im just turning the screen to get measurements" then after 10minutes turned the screen to us and said the  words... " your baby has cleft lip" "and tallapies foot" Our whole world came crashing down and i couldnt hold back the tears, Because at the time i hadnt really had any understanding of what cleft lip was, i just knew there was something wrong with my perfect babys face! i cried alot and blamed myself, and really couldnt come to terms with the fact my baby wasnt going to be picture perfect. Any way...the cleft team got in touch and i met the team at broomsfield hospital, Saw pictures of other babies with cleft before and after surgerie which really eased my worries as the surgeries were AMAZING . I went two weeks overdue and finally on the 08/01/2012 had my gorgeous little boy Archie-Jae, and despite me thinking my baby wasnt going to be "picture Perfect" I instantly fell in love with him and his face, I dont want him to have his op now as i love him and his smile!

SO.... For all the great work CLAPA do and how well they work with parents and children born with cleft lip My partner has set up a TRIALS RIDE at barrows farm in chelmsford (Radical Bikes)on the 14th April to raise awareness and money for CLAPA. As if i was more aware to start with i wouldnt of spent over half my pregnancy worried and anxoius about how this would affect my baby and family.

If ANYONE is interested in taking part or Knows of anyone who would be intrested in taking part or even watching feel free to come along, Entrance fee is £7.00 for all day ride of which a whole £5.00 goes to CLAPA. Some of them will also be wearing CLAPA t-shirts to help raise awareness.
