Story
Friends! I am proudly running the British 10K London Run 2015 for Special Olympics Great Britain. You may think only a professionally trained sportsman could accept such a challenge but I never actually was one. Except maybe for nearly every night in my dreams – I imagined myself winning the Olympics. And I trained and trained passionately and was so into my dream for all these years... Unfortunately I’m ready to admit now that it was just not meant to be this way. But still like most of us I keep watching people doing great things and wish to go hand in hand with them towards something that really matters.
I’m putting my every effort into this brilliant challenge that could really change someone’s world, even if only slightly, and help people dream bigger and be only better. Bruce Jenner said: “I always felt that my greatest asset was not my physical ability, it was my mental ability”, and I chose it to be my motto because I believe I can run British 10k and make all my friends, family and every professionally trained athlete proud despite my real sport career being only a dream, never a reality. Maybe I failed as an Olympic champion, but I won’t let it take the better of me and crush me. I’ll prove myself as a fighter I really am.
Raising money for Special Olympics Great Britain is also a very unique experience for me. It gives everything a deeper meaning and helps every one of us to be a part of something big and important. I encourage you to donate – no matter how small the donation would be – and be better together with me, as a part of this great charity competition and this great country on the whole. What better cause could we find if not this one?
I would be running as part of UNIQLO team, and I truly feel that all of us together are doing the right thing that is needed and could bring a change to someone who needs it so badly.
