We support young people to follow their dreams and ambitions

Story

My name is Alex Gibson-Stark and I'm currently a student on the Air Cadet Junior Leaders course 17. As a part of the course students are challenged to raise money and awareness for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation as it supports the course every year!

I have set myself the challenge of running the Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon on the 13th March. I aim to complete the 13.2 miles in 1 hour and 30 minutes which will be a challenge as I have never complete a half marathon before!

John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) supports young people in a wide range of youth organisations in Dorset and provides them with scholarships to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions.

The foundation was set up in honour of John Thornton ex-Air Cadet, ex-Qualified Junior Leaders and Royal Marine. John Thornton was tragically killed at the age of 22 in Afghanistan. During his inspiring life John achieved many things such as climbing mount Kilimanjaro the highest free standing mountain in the world! His parents set up JTYAF to help young people do only things they could dream of.

Please help my raise money for this incredible cause.
