Story

This summer I have been given the opportunity through Durham University to take part in Project Sri Lanka.

Project Sri Lanka is recognised nationally and internationally as a flagship project in internationalism and inter-cultural endeavours. The project is in its sixth year of existence and began in response to the tsunami tragedy of December 2004 which devastated the island of Sri Lanka. The focus of the project and the money raised by its participants is to provide buildings and human support for the long term sustainable development of villages in Sri Lanka recovering from the events of the tsunami.

From July to September 2011 I will be working on this project and engaging in a variety of activities including teaching English, sport, music, drama and art supporting schools built by the project across Sri Lanka.

To support this project in its construction of schools and community buildings in Sri Lanka, as bases for its humanitarian work, I am hoping to raise £2150. If I manage to reach this total the money raised will provide my flight and basic accommodation in Sri Lanka but most importantly the construction of a small school/community building in a small village called Aththudawa on the south coast of the island.

I am really excited about offering my time and skills to the project and would appreciate any donations you can give to support me in my fundraising.

Thank you.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
