Hi everyone,

Welcome to my extra special fundraising page!!

On Sunday 28th March 2010, I will be running - Yes I did say running - my first half marathon!! A whopping 13 and a bit miles!!

I am not really a natural born runner so this is a BIG challenge for me.

I am passionate about a fab charity called Traidcraft. Many of you may well have heard about the mission of this unique charity. Traidcraft's vision is a world freed from the scandal of poverty, where trade is just and people and communities can flourish. It aims to fight poverty through trade, through providing tradespeople and farmers with the opportunities and tools that they need to produce food and craft items. These high quality and reasonably priced items are then sold in many countries and the producers earn a fair income. Traidcraft have built relationships with small scale producers in developing countries.

Their ongoing and much needed work also includes promoting approaches to trade that will help poor people in developing countries transform their lives. We all know how important this work is, if we are to live in a world freed from the scandal of poverty.

There are many companies that are now taking on board the values of ethical trading and fairtrade, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Your sponsorship funds and generous contributions willl help to bring people out of this massively unjust situation.

If you would like to know more about the work of Traidcraft, please visit their website www.traidcraft.co.uk.   You can also support their mission and aims through buying fairtrade products such as tea, coffee, sugar, chocolate, banana and various other types of fresh and dried fruit. Thanks to the promotional work of traidcraft, these items are now widely available in many supermarkets and some charity shops such as Oxfam.

Please support this fantastic charity and I promise to run as fast as I possibly can!! Please tick the 'gift aid' option. It won't cost you any more money and will help to raise more money for Traidcraft.

I will keep people updated on my training progress. So far, I am up to 10.5 miles in a time of 1hr 47mins and will need to work very hard to reach my half marathon target!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now please.

Many thanks, Alice xx
