At the end of September I will be travelling too Bamako in Mali with York based International Service, on behalf of the International Citizen Service youth initiative. During the 3 months there I will be volunteering with Associations jeunesse Actions Mali where I will assist on a rural project aiding young people begin sustainable livlihoods in market gardening/farming. My role will comprise for the most part marketing the products and developping the businesses.

AJA Mali is an organisation which wishes to eradicate unemployment in Mali with the slogan "Un Mali sans chomeur" (A Mali without unemployment.) The money I am seeking to raise will be given both to this project and directly to International Service York.

International Service: International Service is an international development charity.

We are a voice for human rights. We believe that when people are denied their basic rights, they are also denied the opportunity to fulfil their potential and become trapped in cycles of poverty and inequality.

Our goal is to support people in practical ways to understand their rights – and put them into action - so they can change their lives for the better.

In order to raise a donation for both these charities I am holding a fundraising event on the 11th September 2011 in York. Invitations are on the way. For those unable to attend the event, or those willing to donate I ask kindly for your help both financially and in promoting the International Service, the International Citizen Service Iinitiative and Mali as a country.

I look forward to sharing my stories and photographs on my return! Thank you for your kind donation,
