PLEASE HELP THE CHRISTOPHER GRANGE VISUAL REHABILITATION CENTRE
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Kate and I are undertaking a bike ride from John O' Groats to Lands End on 7th September for three weeks.
All proceeds will be going to the Christopher Grange Visual Rehabilitation Centre, Liverpool (part of the Catholic Blind Institute, as is St. Vincent's School) where I was fortunate enough to spend the last year working as a volunteer. By doing so I have seen first hand the benefits and necessity of its services to the local community.
Through this 906 mile challenge I am hoping to raise as much money as possible to help the Rehabilitation Centre to purchase a new computer suite. The current computers are outdated and slow.
Computing is a vital service which helps visually impaired people readjust to a new way of life. Each computer runs specially designed programmes to help service users regain independence by :- either listening to the radio online, scanning bank statements in order for them to be read back, having their daily paper read to them, or learning how to email and use Skype.
The current technology is outdated and does not meet the needs of the centre.
I am taking on this challenge in order to try and help the centre get that much needed new software. The rehab centre desperately needs funds and I am hoping I can help get them on track through people's generosity towards our challenge.
My aunt and I hope to complete a 906 mile cycle in 3 weeks and raise the minimum amount of £1000.
Please Please do give what you can as this is such a worthy cause!
During my year working as a volunteer I have met some inspiring and beautiful people and have been able to learn what loosing your sight means to each one of them.Through using the computer programmes and with the support of the Rehab staff I have watched each person learn skills and become more independant in managing their activities of daily living. To be able to regain so much confidence from technology is brilliant and by giving you can play a part in that process!
So please dig deep and donate now.
