In October, I will be heading to Cambodia with a team of 39 colleagues from across Santander to build new classrooms for the Knapor Commune near Siem Reap.  We will be living and working alongside the community.

Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in South East Asia.  A major impediment to realising development goals is the limited access to education in rural areas. The limited access not only affects the quality of education, but also has wider implications on healthcare, economic and community development.  The new classrooms will help to increase the school's capacity, benefitting all ages, strengthening and building a brighter future for the rural community.

This is something I have always wanted to be involved in, however as I have never participated in a building project before it will be a personal challenge and take me outside my comfort zone.

As part of the challenge, I will be arranging a number of fundraising activities to raise money for Santander's Charity Partners, Age UK and Barnardo's.  Santander are funding the trip, which means every penny will go towards the charities' work.  I am aiming to raise £2,000, which will be matched by the Santander Foundation.
