We are walking the Ridgeway over 5 days (86miles), Sunday 9th September - Thursday 13th September, in aid of Arthritis Care, as this is a charity that means a lot to us. There are around 10 million people with arthritis in the UK. That’s 10 million individuals, plus their families, each affected in an unique way. Arthritis Care is there to help these people.

One member of our team, Alison, was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis over a year ago.  She knows only too well the unrelenting pain cycle and restricted mobility arthritis can have, causing a great impact upon both her lifestyle and her friend’s and family.

“Rheumatoid Arthritis is a long-term disease in which the joints in my body become inflamed.  It can be controlled by medicine and can randomly flare-up at any time.  Being only 28 and diagnosed with this, I have found it difficult to deal with the consequences of being unable to do what I did before the condition, to deal with pain on a daily basis and to be effected some days and not others without having any control over it! I want to do this walk to put a positive spin on my condition, to be able to achieve something massively challenging and to give money back to an organisation that help so many people in so many ways. “ Ali

“With seeing Ali on a daily basis I have seen the dramatic impact this terrible condition can have on someone's life. On good days and bad, Ali still puts everyone else first and when she said about walking the ridgeway for Arthritis Care I couldn't say anything else than ' I would love to support you and do it with you'! I have another great great friend, my chocolate Labrador Henry, who was diagnosed with arthritis earlier this year and due to this has had his lifestyle dramatically changed. I am also doing this for him and hope that he can join us for a short time on our epic journey and give us some extra support which I'm sure we will be very grateful for!'' Amelia
