Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a devastating, fatal disease for which there is no effective treatment and no cure. It is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Sadly there is still no known cause of this cruel illness, there is a relatively short life expectancy once you are diagnosed and 5 people a day die in Britain from MND.

My mum suffered from this terrible illness which left her unable to speak, swallow or move at all in a very short time of being diagnosed and she died aged 64. As a family we were all very traumatized by this illness - she could not communicate at all but her eyes had a permanent look of fear and sadness. It took a long time for us to get over her illness and death.

Please donate so that more research can be carried out into this cruel and devastating illness.
