Story
Hi Everyone.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am fundraising for CLIC Sargent (a children’s cancer charity) to help my dear friend Clare King and her family. Please read their moving story:

Most of us could provide examples of how cancer has affected us either directly or through friends and extended family. Personally, our family has dealt with the pain of breast cancer (my Nan) and a brain tumour (my Dad). This involved illness, diagnosis, surgery, treatment, prognosis and palliative care. When children are involved I think this takes it to another level and commands a deeper respect. Clare is relentless with her ability to focus on this; a breath of fresh air to us all.
I have decided to do a mixture of sporty things this year to support Clare on her quest. I have never attempted a triathlon or a marathon before but thought I would give it a whirl for 2014. I may not be an eight-minute miler but will certainly give it my best. The Reading half-marathon will also feature to familiarise myself with the pain of longer-distance events prior to the big M. I will also host a charity cake and coffee morning for the Newburians. So…..let’s get physical:
1. 1. Reading half-marathon - Sunday 2 March 2014
2. 2. Cakes and coffee – Friday 28 March 2014 (OK not so physical…it will be off the ‘Lurpak’ starting blocks on this particular occasion! Newbury ladies – your presence will be encouraged please.
3. 3. Newbury sprint triathlon – Sunday 7 September 2014
4. 4. Bournemouth marathon – Sunday 5 October 2014
I have invested in a bicycle, aka. ‘Stella’. Thanks to Mrs Brennan for the name suggestion (and swift endorsement by Mrs Tang). Stella and I may see you around on our outings….
Please come along and join me, support me as a spectator or sponsor me.
Thank you
