Nigel died suddenly and unexpectedly on October 25th 2007 as a result of a right ventricular arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, in other words a type of heart attack.
Tragically, his sister Melanie died in 2006 in similar circumstances. This is an inherited condition that could affect both Hope and Will and their cousins and also Nick, Nigel's brother. They are now being routinely monitored by specialists at The London Heart Hospital for any signs of this disease.
It is impossible to describe in a few words the devastation and loss that we feel for Nigel and Mel.
Nigel would have been 50 years old on the 16th December 2009 and I don't need to tell you that he would have been the life and soul of his big birthday party. We miss him terribly, but have decided that a party to celebrate with as many of his and our good friends would be a great way to remember him.
We intend to make this a happy celebration with fun, laughter, plenty to eat and drink and dancing...just as he would have liked it!
I would also like to use this great opportunity to raise some funds for the very personally relevant and worthy charity, The Cardiomyopathy Association, which supports sufferers and those affected by the disease.
If you are able, I would be really pleased if you could make a donation.
With love and thanks
Alison
