Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A friend of mine came across a website advertising this event, looking for 3000 people to get together and dance the Michael Jackson's "Thriller" at Bolton Arena on Halloween.  Obvioulsy this involves learning the dance, which we could either do by attending their workshops in Bolton every Sunday (bit of a trek) or buying their DVD.  However, we have already learnt the dance at our local Street Dance class, so we thought, why not, it will be fun and we can raise money for a charity which means something to us personally.  On the day (31/10/09) their will be TV crew and all sorts filming this event, for which we have to dress as Zombies'!    It is also hoped to beat the Guiness World Record! We have already been asked to attend another event on 22nd August which involves dancing this fabulous dance in Bolton Town Centre, throughout the day!

Now....  a little bit about the charity I would like your donations to go to.   Below is the story of a family member who passed away on 04/09/2007 to a rare form of cancer:

Hi my name is Rob, I am 15 years old and have a rare cancer (Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour) that predominantly affects teenagers.
Just before my 15th birthday (mothers day), I was taken to hospital. Previously I had been back and forth to hospital being diagnosed with different problems, food poisoning, gastroentoritis, a hernia, IBS (irritable bowl syndrome). On my last visit the doctors noticed that my prostate gland was swollen and I was finally admitted for further investigations.

After a number of blood tests and scans they noticed several tumours in my abdomen. I was transferred to The John Radcliffe Children's Hospital in Oxford where the consultants confirmed the rare cancer (DSRCT).
I had 5 courses of chemo which made me feel really sick, and i lost 3 stone, but i was fed with a feeding tube straight into my abdomen, to help maintain my weight. All this was to no avail, only to find out the chemo had no or little affect on my tumours, that later was to take my life.
My aim is to raise awareness of this rare Cancer and fund research into my condition and to help save other lives or at least give them a longer and better quality of life to enable them to live a little, and to make teens know about this rare and very agressive disease.

NOW WE HAVE RAISED THE £100,000 FOR THREE YEAR RESEARCH, OUR AIM IS TO KEEP FUNDINGTHE RESEARCH FOR AS LONG AS WE CAN TO HELP FIND OTHER TREATMENTS, SO PLEASE HELP ME BY DONATING TO MY CHARITY. THANK YOU, ROB!!

At 2.10 on Tuesday 4th September 2007 Robert lost, with much Bravery and courage, his battle with cancer and went to sleep peacefully.

It is his parents will, now the charity has reached Rob's wish of £100,000 that we continue to fund the researcher and that will cost £30,000 per year.

Thank you all for your support....
