Story
Mat and Wil are taking part in a huge sponsored walkathon on Saturday May 1st. Over 500 people from age three to ninety are walking to raise money to finish building the school hall and for a charity called 'Cardiac Risk In The Young' (CRY).
The sports & performance hall, one of the largest self-funded and self-built projects in the UK, is almost complete after eight years of tireless fundraising efforts. We are giving it one last push with this gigantic 'WALKATHON' to finish it at last. One of the pupils, and son of a teacher, died of sudden death syndrome and a fund was set up through CRY to raise awareness about this condition that kills 11 young people in the UK every week. The fund goes towards the cost of lobbying for and setting up nationwide screening in schools to detect those children affected and to help them live with the condition.Mat will be walking 12 miles with his class and Wil will be covering 7 - up and down the beautiful hills of Gloucestershire. Please dig deep and give what you can. Wynstones is a wonderful school and having this new facility actually finished will make such an enormous difference to the experience the pupils can have at the school - as well as creating the space to allow many more people to come and enjoy their performances.
