Poem-A-Thon for Refugees · 5 December 2015

Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation. We work in over 70 countries - in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. We are independent, neutral and impartial. We provide medical care where it's needed most.

Story

I'm one of 60 people each doing 8 minutes' worth of poems on 5 December. I expect everyone looking at this page is already doing something or other, through charities, volunteering, whatever, to support refugees. I've had to miss more or less every demo; I've signed petitions and sent emails to politicians but they've not worked. I deserve sponsors! My poems will be poor efforts compared to the FANTASTIC work others will be reading or performing, but I'm giving it a go and it's more frightening for those who aren't much cop - sponsor me for bravery at least! We ought to be taking in far, far more refugees here (why any limit at all?), but meanwhile the Poem-A-Thon's aiming to support them through Medecins sans Frontieres.

Come and cheer us on: Sat 5 Dec, 12pm - 10.00pm (with later bar) in London at Vout-O-Reenee's Club, The Crypt, 30 Prescot Street E1 8BB. Nearest tube stations: Tower Hill, Aldgate East.
